Picnic Merlot!

I cannot believe that it is almost Memorial Day.  How nuts.  Summer is on its way!!!  I wonder if the weather knows that.  Judging by how it's been behaving lately, I'd say probably not.  BUT.  When it does finally show up, you are probably going going to be chomping at the bit for some fun BBQs with friends.  I know that I am!

Not to sound like I'm tooting my own horn, but we have A LOT of friends.  When we have a low key barbeque, there are a minimum of 20 people there.  The main issue that I find is not having enough food (I'm Greek...we do FOOD), but having the right drinks in the right quantities.  Sometimes you feel like a glass of wine, sometimes you feel like a cocktail, sometimes you feel like fruity sangria...and most of the time you don't know what is going to go fastest!  So, I always like to have extra on hand.  But, that can get pricey!

So, your on your own for the cocktails, but as for the sangria and wine, we just took our 2009 Merlot out from our inventory vault and have decided to offer it for sale for the first time ever at a crazy low price.  It is $10 per bottle, but by the case.  So, $120 for 12 bottles.  WITH FREE SHIPPING!  What?  Crazy, I know.

I've been getting lots of emails from people wanting to try this wine before they buy it.  Sadly, this is not an option because we do not have a tasting room and it has never been sold before.  The thing I can say is that we had the guys from Tria out a few months ago and let them try it...and they thought it was cool.  They may pick it up (if there is anything left) after they have run through their special PV Blend.  I would say that if you are looking for a versatile summer wine, this could be it.  It would be the perfect accompaniement to your next BBQ meal (steaks, burgers, wings, grilled chicken), it could also be turned into an awesome sangria.  I have a great recipe that I am going to share.  Here it is:

2 bottles Picnic Merlot
1 cup brandy
1/2 cup triple sec
1 cup orange juice (half turned into ice cubes)
1 cup pomegranate juice (half turned into ice cubes)
1/2 cup simple syrup, or more to taste (equal parts sugar and water, heated until sugar dissolves, cooled)
Orange slices
Apple slices

So, in 1 case of wine, there are enough for 6 batches of Sangria....sounds like a done deal to me!  You can get it delivered to your home, you can also get it delivered right to the door of your shore house (New Jersey or otherwise).

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.  We've got a wedding to go to tomorrow night.  It is our dear friends Josh and Melissa!  Quick little story about them as a couple.  I did a crossfit competition with them one weekend last year, the day after the crossfit competition, they got engaged.  So, the short of it is....they got engaged because of me.  And now we get to see them tie the knot and have an awesome party to celebrate.  I cannot wait.  Until next time...
