Elmwood Park...what a fun little zoo!

Hello!  I hope that summer has been treating you well and that you had a wonderful 4th of July holiday.  I was lucky enough to spend the weekend with my family!  Every 4th of July weekend we head up to Lake Winnipesaukee and do patriotic things like grill, eat blueberry pie and ice cream, and blare Bruce Springsteen.  This year, we also hiked up a small mountain that gives you an awesome view of the lake from above (#photoop !) and played some golf.  Maybe one of my most favorite things about 4th of July on Lake Winnipesaukee is that our little town up there has a 4th of July Parade.  We go EVERY year.  And maybe my most favorite thing about my most favorite thing is that there is a group of people that march in the parade that call themselves The Lawn Chair Brigade.  The Lawn Chair Brigade has an average age of about 75 years young and they have a routine...which of course involves sitting in a lawn chair.  They are the highlight.

Speaking of highlights, do you remember how I have talked about my love for the Elmwood Park Zoo?  DID YOU KNOW THAT THE GIRAFFES ARE BACK!?  It's true.  They are back, and they are here to stay!  Have you ever gone to feed the giraffes before?  SO FUN.  Just do not go with my fiance.  Let me explain why:  when you get a ticket to feed the giraffes, you go up to the ticket window and they give you a bunch of lettuce.  When we got our lettuce, I took a piece and handed the rest of it to Matt for him to hold while I went up to the giraffes (with the assumption that I would get more of the enormous handful of lettuce).  After I returned, giddy from getting to feed those majestic creatures, it was Matt's turn.  He took ALL the lettuce and fed it to a single giraff within about 12 seconds.  If looks could kill!  I was so sad.

Anyway, there is a bigger reason for me mentioning the Elmwood Park Zoo, and it is that they are having a Wine Safari on Friday, August 6, from 6-10PM.  They are going to be sampling our 2015 Rose and 2015 Sauvignon Blanc.  They are also going to have 3 other wineries there!  Tickets are $75 and they include:  Giraffe feeding (!), you get to watch a Jaguar training session (it is so awesome), and wine and food pairings at stations set up by cool animal enclosures!  Each wine will be paired a little bite to eat that is themed with the country that the animal is native to!  So cool.  Anyway, you can read all about it (and purchase tickets) here:  I hope that we will see you there!!

I have a crazy weekend this weekend:  we are closing on our new house this afternoon and tomorrow I am going to look at wedding dresses!  I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend.  Until next time...
