You guys! Another week down. Fourth of July is in a week and a half! Yesterday was the first day of actual summer. We are through the first half of 2018! Time needs to slow down, that is for sure.
If you read this blog, you are likely already on our newsletter group...but if you aren't, you are not getting the most up to date Karamoor details possible! This week was kind of a big one; even though in last week's blog I mentioned that we added 3 more tour dates, the NEWSLETTER group found out what each one included! The NEWSLETTER group ALSO got an email today about a very special sale for the remaining 15 cases of 2013 Merlot that we have available for purchase! By special sale, I mean you can get this delight at 40% off per bottle per case. What a deal! That means that you are getting each bottle of 2013 Merlot for $16.19. AND free shipping. Amazing. If you aren't on the newsletter group, I will still give you the code to use for the sale (which runs until Monday 6.25)...BYE2013MERLOT.
So, let me tell you what the deal is for the 3 tours that we added for July. The tour on Tuesday, July 10 is at 4:30PM and will likely run until 6:45PM. It includes the normal Karamoor Estate tour and tasting (so, a drive through the property, an explanation of how Karamoor Estate Wines came to be, a winemaking explanation, and a tasting of at least 5 of our wines) PLUS a really nice cheese platter to enjoy...did I mention that it is also in the evening?? The visit on 7/10 costs $60 per person. We also have a tour scheduled for Saturday, July 14th from 1PM until about 3:15PM. That tour is the normal Karamoor tour, but on a Saturday (which has only been offered 1 time before) and is being sold for $75 per person WITH the opportunity to receive $25 off of your purchase of $150 or more on the day of your tour PLUS the normal tour discounts (10% off 1-11 items and 15% off 12+ items)....so you will end up paying $50 per ticket as long as you leave with some Karamoor wine to keep you stocked up for summer. We also added a tour for Friday, July 20th from 3-5:15PM. This is our normal tour and tasting...tried and true...$50 per person. Tickets are going fast - emails were sent yesterday and each tour is already halfway to sold out.
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend. I am hosting a bridal shower at my house tonight and then am headed to Atlantic City this weekend for my best friend's bachelorette party! Until next time....
WELL! We are into the tail end of June...my most favorite time of year. You know why? Of course you do. School's just about done...NO MORE SCHOOL BUSES to contend with during the morning commute. We have nothing yellow at our house; probably because just seeing that color stresses me out. It doesn't stress Matt out because he only has about a 6 minute commute...that lucky devil. Though, it will not be long before I am joining him on the short commute times...
I think that now is as good a time as any to let you all know that at the end of June/beginning of July, I will be moving on from my post here at Karamoor Estate. Trust me when I tell you that this was the hardest decision of my life; but I'm headed into real estate to pursue a passion and try something new. I have enjoyed getting to know each and every single one of you during my last 6 years here at Karamoor, and can never thank you enough for the support you've shown as we continue to do our thing. I'm very happy with how things are evolving for Karamoor's future as I see only positive changes and forward momentum as we go through this transition period. There will be a few new people onboarding as I depart; the one I am going to mention in this blog article is a woman by the name of Cheri Morrison.
Cheri owned her own business for 20+ years. She started her restuarant in the late 1980's at the Lower Gwynedd Train Station. She served breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but quickly recognized that the business she did was heavy on soups...going through 40+ gallons per day! So like any good business owner, she adapted. She stopped serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner an focused on making and packaging her soups in bulk...growing the business from a start up to a soup empire that was selling $3+mm per year in product. As a woman ahead of her time, she focused on fresh ingredients, no preservatives, and takeaway packaging (all of which are commonplace today, but in the mid-90s, no one was really thinking that way). After selling her business in 2011, she did some consulting for friends and colleagues as she searched for her next passion project. We are thrilled to be that next chapter of Cheri's business life. Having grown up just a few miles from Karamoor and having attended Germantown Academy (right down the road from us) she has many friends and associates in the area...so we know she will fit right in. She will be taking over the blog in the near future, so she will, I'm sure, introduce herself in a little more depth.
As promised, we've come up with a few more dates for tours. We are looking at Tuesday, July 10 at 4:30PM; Saturday, July 14 at 1:00PM; and Friday, July 20 from 3-5PM. Emails with pricing will go out next week...so stay tuned! In addition to the new tour dates going out next week, we are going to be shipping out our wine club orders! Our Signature Mixed Club will be receiving the New York International Wine Competition winners, so a bottle of 2017 Rosé, 2015 Chardonnay, and 2015 Cabernet Franc. Our Signature Red Club will be receiving a bottle of our 2017 Rosé, 2015 Cabernet Franc, and our "ready to drink" 2010 Reserve Merlot. Our Reserve Club will be receiving a bottle of the very last amount of 2014 Barrel Select Cabernet Sauvignon, 2013 Reserve Merlot, and 2015 Cabernet Franc.
I hope that you enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend. I am going to be spending it moving 23 tons of riverjack, so I am glad that at least the weather is supposed to be cooperative. Until next time...
Hi all! Sorry for not writing last week, but time got away from me and then I was off to Florida on Friday to watch my friend compete in CrossFit Regionals. Have you been to West Palm Beach? It is such a cute little town. It is too bad that Matt couldn't come with me, but someone had to watch the dogs! The weather was not very cooperative, but I suppose I can't complain too much about the weather since I think up here we got about 3 inches of rain over the 3 days I was gone!
It has been a very busy week with a lot of exciting things happening. On Tuesday, I was down in the city with a person who comes on board with us next week (her name is Cheri Morrison, and I will tell you all about her in next week's blog). We went to this really cool venue, Arena 2300, where there were many of the top caterers in Philly at a great networking event...while familiarizing ourselves with a very unique space. Hopefully you start seeing Karamoor (or our second brand!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More to come on this.) through some of these top catering companies in the near future. On Thursday, we hosted a private wine tasting event here for 20 people...complete with an amazing cheese board by Jericho's fabulous head chef, Verdine Hurt. Now, today, we have another private tasting! Next week is almost just as busy, if not more so! This is great news for Karamoor.
If you follow us on social media or get our newsletters (and if you don't, you should!), then you probably already know that we won some really great awards at the New York International Wine Competition. We were named PA Winery of the Year, our 2015 Cabernet Franc and 2015 Chardonnay took gold medals, and our brand new 2017 Rosé took a bronze. How exciting is that? We are so proud! We are also so appreciative of all the nice notes we have received from Karamoor fans echoing the remarks of us being their favorite winery in PA too! It means a lot.
I know that I keep promising everyone new dates for semi-private tours in July. I promise that they are coming. We plan to release them next Monday or Tuesday so that you can start planning your visit with us ASAP. Thank you so much for your patience on this - as always, the dates will come out via our newsletter first, Facebook and Instragram 2nd, and then they will also be listed on the blog next Friday.
I hope that you have plans to enjoy what is looking like another rainy weekend. Hopefully the sun pokes its head out a bit. Matt is headed up to his business partner's lakehouse with some of their pals - so I plan on getting some yardwork done, having dinner with my parents, and maybe spray painting the new window boxes that are being installed next Wednesday! Until next time...
