So, this summer is flying by. Someone reminded me this morning that school bus season is almost upon us. No longer will commutes be easy and free of yellow busses with flashing lights! Before you know it, it will be Thanksgiving...and then Christmas! Did you know that there are only 17 Fridays between now and Christmas? I am not prepared for it to be the holiday season yet. This summer has not even felt like summer. I feel like I haven't seen the sun since 4th of July. I think I mentioned in one of my earlier blog posts that Matt and I got engaged over Memorial Day Weekend...and the same day that we got engaged, our offer got accepted on a house. We closed on said house the 15th of July and have been spending every waking moment painting, cutting down shrubberies, choosing carpets, choosing stain colors, sanding, and did I mention painting? SO MUCH PAINTING. On top of the house stuff, we've chosen our wedding venue (yay!!!!!!!!!!), figured out the church, found a rehearsal dinner spot, booked the band, AND I GOT MY DRESS. In addition, we've had things to do every weekend: Crossfit competitions, bridal showers in Chicago, a day at the lake with Matt's business partner, collaborative beer/wine releases, weddings for friends, weddings for family, and all types of other things. I need a nap.
I don't think that Karamoor Estate Wines knows that I need a nap. We have been moving at about 100 mph here! So much stuff has been happening, it is tough to keep it all straight! The one thing that I wanted to really fill you in on was the bottling of our 2015 Chardonnay. I LOVE this wine. I can't wait for you guys to try it. We will probably be sending it out as a special treat to our Signature Mixed Club members in September! We will release it on the web probably closer to the holidays (Kevin will be the judge on when it is truly ready!).
In addition to the Chardonnay being bottled, we are heading right into the start of harvest! We expect to be picking at least the Sauvignon Blanc the first or second week of September, with everything else following thereafter (we pick the red grapes through the end of October!). Stay tuned for some great photos to be posted on Facebook over the course of the next few weeks.
Don't forget that we are offering some limited tours of Karamoor! Tickets can be purchased for the available dates here: http://www.karamoorwines.com/Wines/Tours. There is some very limited availability for next Thursday, 9/1. We haven't chosen any additional dates yet, but here is a great photo of the group that came through yesterday:
I hope that you all have a great weekend. We are moving. Say a little prayer for us! I wish I could wake up and have it be Monday and all our things are miraculously in our new home. Definitely going to need a little Karamoor (or maybe something stronger!). Until next time...
So, last weekend was a busy one! On Friday, we were at Elmwood Park Zoo for their very first Wine Safari! We were set up by the Elk and Bison, we were pouring our Sauvignon Blanc and our Rose, and everyone was having a great time!!! I think that this is going to be a yearly event for them. If you weren't able to make it last weekend, keep an eye out for next year's date! On Sunday, we went to Tired Hands because the beer that we collaborated with them on was finally released! It was a great day. The beer was awesome, and we had a delicious three course brunch. The first course was paired with their famous Saison, the 2nd course was paired with our famous Merlot, and the 3rd course was paired with ROOMARAK! Did you know that ROOMARAK is KARAMOOR backwards? Pretty cool.
In addition to the events from last weekend, we recently implented something pretty neat for the fans of Karamoor wines. Many of you have asked to come out and see the property, to come out and taste the wines, and to be able to see the grapes. While we do not plan to open to the public, we have found a way to offer opportunities to come out to the property. Every few weeks, we will release two or three dates and a limited number of tickets for tours that can be purchased on our website (http://www.karamoorwines.com/Wines/Tours). The tours will be on a first come, first serve basis.
You may be wondering what you can expect on a Karamoor tour. Well....you can expect the tour to last about 2 hours, you can also expect to taste 5 wines (that we will choose for you), and you can also expect to have an awesome time! I will show you around the property, talk about the history of the estate, you will learn about the winemaking process, and you will meet the team. We take a lot of pride in the tours that we give (in the past, they have only ever been available to people that had bid on them at a fundraiser), and we want to keep them personal so that they will be memorable and will be a special experience for all. We hope to host you soon!!
Tonight, we will be at a tasting at the Conshohocken liquor store from 4-6PM. If you are in the area, swing on by! Have a wonderful weekend. Until next time...
